Haitian Organization Of Edmonton

Our goal is to create a resilient, inclusive, and united Haitian Community in Edmonton

Discover Our values

Resilience

Anchored by our steadfast commitment, we’ve weathered challenges by leaning on our collective strength and purpose, understanding that adversity often serves as a catalyst for growth and transformation.

Inclusivity

We believe that a community is only as strong as the bonds that connect its members, which is why we work to create an environment that is welcoming to all.

Unity

We value the power of coming together as one, recognizing that our collective efforts amplify our impact and contribute to the well-being and progress of everyone in the community.

Commitment

We are deeply invested in the well-being of our community. This level of dedication underpins all our initiatives and services, making a lasting impact on the lives we touch.

Our History

Marie Laura Raphaël Alexis and Dr. Alice A Prophète were the driving force behind the creation of The Haitian Organization of Edmonton (OHE). Their initiative gained the robust backing of Jean Clode Macena, Ismaélie Thernelan, and Marguerite Fils-aimé. Founded in 2010, the organization has grown to be much more than a supportive platform; it stands as a testament to an unwavering commitment to Edmonton’s Haitian community and to meeting the evolving needs of new arrivals.

Our Commitment

From its inception, all founding members, particularly Marie Laura Raphaël Alexis and Dr. Alice A Prophète,  have invested not just their time and energy, but also personal resources to keep the organization moving forward.  Their resilience and dedication have been particularly crucial at various pivotal moments in the organization’s history. When facing challenges that threatened the cohesion and unity of the organization, Marie Laura Raphael Alexis and Dr. Alice Prophète were called upon for guidance and advice to steer the group back on course. Their leadership emphasized the critical nature of unity and cooperation, underlining that a community is only as strong as the bonds that hold it together.
